Use the Rushout filter |
When you thumb through magazines, sometimes you could notice a number of ads using this effect. This is a great way to emphasize a central figure in your image, such as a statue or a sports player. The key part to use this filter is to draw a mask that separates the main object from the background. This tutorial will walk you through how to use this filter and especially how to draw the mask to highlight the statue from the background. |
Step 1. In Vihgo main window, click "Image" to open the image you want to work on. |
Step 2. You can open image from iPhone photo album or take a new photo with camera. |
Step 3. Image is now opened. The current filter is "Pencil". ( You may have a different current filter on your iPhone). You can now select the "Rushout" filter by clicking the top-right "Filter" button. |
Step 4. After you select "Rushout", a message pops up. It says that you need to draw a mask for this filter. After you click "OK", Vihgo will launch the mask editor. The goal is to select the statue from the background. |
Step 5. The mask editor is launched. You can use finger to draw the mask. You can zoom in and out. |
Step 6. Select the "Solid Brush" and use your finger to draw a coarse mask. |
Step 7. Use two fingers to zoom in to refine the mask boundary. Erase un-necessary mask. |
Step 8. You can switch back to "Image Brush" to make sure the mask covers the statue exactly. Repeat the steps above to draw a complete mask over the statue. When everything is fine, click "Done". |
Step 9. Now you have the initial result of the rushout filter. |
Step 10. Click the border of the window and the parameters controller will show up. You can slide the left and right red dot to change the width and the density of the halftone dots. You can also click the color wheel to launch the color picker. Click the orange dot to set all parameters to their default values. |
Step 11. In the color picker, you can select the desired color for halftone background and dots. |
